The Iron Cross system is one of the most popular betting strategies in the game of craps. It definitely can be a lot of fun to use, but as with all betting systems, it is statistically flawed. To learn why, read our article about the failure of craps system. To try to combat these statistical shortcomings, the 'Unbeatable' Iron Cross was invented. The Iron Cross Craps Strategy The Iron Cross is a strategic betting system in which players can easily cover every possible number (except the 7) with four small bets. If any number hits (except the 7), a profit is made. The danger in the system is, of course, the rolling of a 7.

The Iron Cross Betting Strategy, also called the Anything But 7 Strategy, is a strategy that combines a field bet with place bets to cover every number on the board except the seven.

In essence, it combines a Field Bet which covers the numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 with Place Bets on the 5, 6 and 8. You’ve then effectively covered 30 of the 36 outcomes of the dice.

For many who use this system, they believe they’ve flipped the odds from the casino to the player. In theory, that’s actually true, if you only look at one roll of the dice.

But this is a multi-roll bet and strategy, and while you’re collecting a small amount on every roll, you can lose big if a 7 shows early in the shooters rolls.

Let’s take a look at what this looks like on a $10 minimum table;

  • After the Come Out
    • Place a $10 Field Bet
    • Place Bet the 5 for $10 and the 6 & 8 for $12 each
      • You now have $44 dollars invested on the table
    • Replace the $10 Field Bet anytime a 5, 6 or 8 rolls
  • Possible outcomes on each roll
    • (2) or (12) is rolled
      • Win $20 – 2 times your Field Bet
        • Some casinos offer 3X on either the 2 or 12
    • (3), (4), (9), (10) or (11) is rolled
      • Win $10 – 1X of your Field Bet
    • (5), (6) or (8) is rolled
      • Win $14 on your Place Bet
      • Lose $10 on your Field Bet
    • (7) is rolled
      • Lose $44 dollars

For many players, this strategy offers a lot of fun and entertainment at the table because you’re ‘collecting’ on every roll of the dice, except for the 7 obviously.

But is the Iron Cross (Anything But 7) Strategy really worth using at the craps tables? Well let’s take a look.

Advantages

Iron Cross Craps Betting System Free

  • You win on every roll of the dice except for the 7
  • You cover 30 of the 36 possible outcomes of the dice
  • Works great on ‘hot’ and many times on ‘warm’ tables
  • $44 is a relatively small investment for a $10 table minimum

Disadvantages

  • The estimated ‘house edge’ of this strategy is just under 4.0%
    • There are many other betting strategies with a lower casino advantage
  • Net win of $4 on the 5, 6 and 8 (Place Bet wins $14, Field Bet loses $10)
    • The 5, 6 and 8 make up 14 of the 30 possible positive outcomes for the player
  • On average, you need 5 to 6 rolls before a 7 to make up your investment.
    • Average collect on each positive roll is $7.87 requiring 5.59 rolls to break even.
  • Does not work on ‘cold’ or ‘choppy’ tables

The Iron Cross (Anything But 7) Strategy can offer advantages depending on the trends at the table and there are a number of variations to this strategy as well.

Keep in mind, that no strategy can change the ‘house edge’ (casino advantage) in the long run. It’s up to you to determine the right times to use this strategy and when to not use it.

Variations

There are a number of variations to the Iron Cross Strategy with a few of them mentioned below using a $10 table. Experiment with your own variation that works best for you.

  • Field Bet $10 / Place Bets $20 (5), $24 (6), $24 (8)
    • Increases your net win on the 5, 6 and 8 to $18 from $4
    • Also increases your total bet risk to $78
  • Field Bet $10 / Place Bets $10 (4), (5), (9), (10) and $12 (6) (8)
    • You’ve effectively place all numbers across + a field bet
    • Increases your winnings on the 4, 9 and 10
      • Net win $28 on the (4) and (10) – ($18 4/10, $10 Field)
      • Net win $24 on the (9) – ($14 (9) + $10 Field)
      • Increase your total bet risk to $74
  • Take down your bets after a predetermined number of rolls
    • Reduces your risk of hitting a 7 before recovering your entire investment

It’s always recommended that you experiment with your own variation that works best for you and always double check your bankroll to ensure you can support the strategy you plan on using at the casino.

BEST OF LUCK AT THE CASINOS!!!

Iron Cross Craps Betting System Review

This past Sunday I was at two of my local casinos.
Depending on the shooter, and whether or not they seem to influence the dice, if they seem to be random rollers, I usually wait for the 5 count and then get in on the 5, 6, 8, and Field, and for the DI's, I usually do a Pass Line Bet, Odds, and 5, 6, 8, & Field.

Iron Cross Craps Betting System Reviews

I usually just play minimum bets, so if my Field wins, I'm getting money back, but if 5, 6, or 8 rolls, I'm only getting a couple of bucks and lose my Field. I noticed after some nice rolls, that when all was said I done, I wasn't up in profit that much especially when the shooter hits lots of 5, 6, & 8's.
I could double my buy in on the numbers, but I don't have a large bankroll, so several quick 7 outs will kill me. I could wait to start playing the field until I've got double money on the numbers, but that means while I'm waiting, if alot of 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12's roll, I'm missing out on winning money.
Is there a solution to this problem?
